The Warwick Rowers have a message for Trump

in Anti-Bullying/Athletes/Sexuality

The Warwick Rowing Team is naked once again, and this time they have a message for Donald Trump, Mike Pence and the rest of incoming US President’s team.

The athletes got naked on London’s Westminster Bridge in front of Parliament on a cold December day to protest for human rights.

England’s Warwick University Rowing Team has been producing naked calendars for seven years. As usual, the 2017 calendar features the sportsmen posing au naturel with just some strategically-placed sporting equipment protecting their modesty. Proceeds from the sale of the calendar go to Sport Allies, a charity that aims to challenge homophobia in sports, through sports.

The rowers, who describe themselves as straight allies, believe that everyone should have the same human rights, regardless of gender or sexual identity. And as athletes, they believe that sport can play a vital role in creating an inclusive, healthy and happy world for everyone. This year, as every year, the team has shed their clothes as a symbol of breaking down barriers, a demonstration of the contribution that sport can make to health and well-being, and as a reminder that we are all equals in this challenging journey called life.

President-elect Trump and Vice President-elect Pence, we’re sending you our world famous calendar. In it, we stand naked in front of the world to do what we can to make a difference. In turn, we call on you, and everyone else in positions of power, to stand before the world and show your commitment to equality, inclusion, and human rights. And you don’t even have to get naked. We’ve already done that bit for you.

You can watch the message in the video below.
