Of course, work soon gives way to play, and the unique combination of laughter, competition, and youthful energy converge to create a sensual tension that can only be captured by a photographer who has the skill and talent to work closely with his models without ever overshadowing or crowding them.

Adam Raphael has been making subtle, erotic photographs of stunning young men for more than a decade. In addition to Barely Working, he has published four other books: Book One, Friends, Friends & Brothers, and Room Service. His photography is widely collected and was featured in Reed Massengill’s Self-Exposure as well as in numerous magazines, including Du Und Ich, XY Foto, Instinct, The Out Traveler, M Mensuel, and AX National.

In Barely Working, pipe wrenches and earth-moving equipment are handled with grace and ease by Adam Raphael’s young men, who practically throb with visceral friendliness while possessing a humanity that makes them irresistibly appealing. — Reed Massengill

Boy Next Door 2010 Wall Calendar

Photographer Adam Raphael delivers a glimpse of the hot guys in the neighborhood we've always had our eyes on. These youthful, sexy, not- quite-innocent yet still sweet guys are shown living out their day-to-day lives in the Boy Next Door. This acclaimed photographer is known for his best-selling photography books: Barely Working, Room Service and Friends & Brothers.

Room Service: Adam Raphael

Adam Raphael’s Room Service is a luxurious collection of 150 photographs of racially diverse male models lounging, bathing, and dining amid the sumptuous interiors and elegant finishes of the finest hotels of East Coast America. The young men of Room Service are models of the highest caliber whose flawless physiques are revealed in Raphael’s photographs. Because the models are photographed individually, the viewer is invited to get to know each model intimately. Aged 18 to 26, all of the models, who are both clothed and unclothed, are photographed in repose, playful, and carefree in the privacy of their hotel suites. This stylish presentation of handsome young men in equally attractive hotel settings is designed by JC Suarés, and includes spot illustrations by Nina Duran.

Adam Raphael: Friends & Brothers

Touching and tender, and beautifully designed, what a dedicated display of youth this book is. It is a world of good-looking, sensual, yet innocent young men that Adam Raphael seems to capture in all of his photography.
Following Adam's first book, "Friends", this is a welcome addition and new collection that includes more "Friends" and now "Brothers too." The sepia toned, color, and black and white images are printed on sepia colored backgrounds and are beautifully photographed displaying these handsome young men wrestling, playing ball, enjoying a day the beach, and just having a good time. Adam has accomplished what he set out to do (be sure to read his foreword) capturing the innocence and beauty of these masculine & handsome young men at the peak of their athletic ability. What is intriguing about these photos is the playfulness of these young guys, who are naturally photogenic as they peel off their shirts to expose all the hard work they done in staying in shape, and improving their bodies.
